Thirst - in Park Chan-Wook [2009]

As Wikipedia says about the basic plot: "Sang-hyun is a priest, much loved in his community. Against the advice of his superiors for Africa for an experiment with a vaccine used to fight a disease with high mortality rate. The experiment fails, however, returned to Korea and the priest begins to undergo a series of physical and psychological changes until it becomes a vampire. "
From a plot so we could expect anything. O crap to the "Twilight Saga", or something that is closer to the success of literary / film of "Let the Right." E if behind this project was a brilliant mind like that of Pak Chan-Wook, I expected only the best.
Never trust the directors of those nasty beasts!
The end result is a beautiful mess. In terms of directing, Chan-Wook is holding very well. Sharply defined images, sudiate shots and never out of place ... but from a Korean film that is the least. That leaves no doubt that more is the screenplay, which has more of a narrative and conceptual flaw.
started well, with a beginning that makes you hope for the best, and then confused - have the same effect on the viewer - and end up not going with it anywhere. Do you know those long jokes that are not funny at the end? Idem. I expected that you raise in some way, that all this chaos was a conceptual approach to something, but nisba.
And to think that at the beginning of m'illudevo not have caught a few steps ... but also the fact that - so far - I saw it once says a lot.
What weighs more on all the overload of issues. Religiosity, the search for identity (as a man first and then as a vampire), addiction ... beautiful, meaningful for a figure like that of nosferatu, but you have to decide what to give importance.
least by a sex scene that reveals the natural beauty of the actress Kim Ok-bin is there.
A sad misstep that even the struggentissima final scene manages to redeem. Oddeus, we are not at the levels of total repudiation as "Alice in Wonderland" ... well let's face it, at least here Wook has remained true to his visionary style and its key themes, but this time in spite of everything he has committed a faux pas. Thing in which even the best, at times, can not avoid doing (hehe).

And for a change, could be ruined by a remake made in USA? Maccertocheno! We wait for the remake to see how stars stripes could not spoil it further, given the current mania to redo everything and do it worse.
